Starbucks

Recently, Royal Marines in Iraq, wrote to Starbucks because they wanted to let them know how much they liked their coffees, and to request that they send some of it to the troops there. Starbucks replied, telling the Marines thank you for their support of their business, but that Starbucks does not support the war, nor anyone in it, and that they would not send the troops their brand of coffee.

So as not to offend Starbucks, maybe we should support them by NOT buying any of their products! I feel we should get this out in the open. I know this war might not be very popular with some folks, but that doesn't mean we don't support the boys on the ground, fighting street-to-street and, house-to-house.

If you feel the same as I do then pass this along. Thanks very much for your support. I know you'll all be there again when I deploy once more.

Sgt. Howard C. Wright 1st Force Recon Co 1st PLT.

PLEASE DON'T DELETE THIS. .. PLEASE PASS TO EVERYONE ON YOUR E- MAIL LIST, IN MEMORY OF ALL THE TROOPS
WHO HAVE DIED, SO THAT WE MAY HAVE THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE !

Also, don't forget that when the Twin Trade Towers were hit, the fire fighters and rescue workers went to Starbucks because it was close by for water for the survivors and workers, and Starbucks CHARGED THEM! ! !

AN ADDED NOTE TO THIS: STARBUCKS HAD STORES ON SEVERAL MILITARY BASES IN THE UNITED STATES. THEY ARE NOW BEING REMOVED BECAUSE OF THIS.

There are 227 Starbucks stores across the UK, and there's no doubt that our soldiers

I never liked their coffee either

More about Utility Warehouse broadcallBroadCall is available to all UK households with a BT phone line. To illustrate just what great value this represents, remember that BT charge most of their customers £12 per month just for line rental! There are 2 different prices for BroadCall depending on whether new equipment has been installed in your local BT exchange, a process known as Local Loop Unbundling or "LLU". If your local exchange has not yet been 'unbundled' and you connect to our BroadCall service, we'll check your local exchange every 6 months. If "LLU" has become available at that time, we will automatically reduce your monthly charges (as long as we have successfully transferred your line) to our lower "LLU" BroadCall prices.

The call part of BroadCallthe Utility warehouse take over complete responsibilty for supplying your home phone service, so you won't receive any further bills from BT. But in the unlikely event something goes wrong, your line will still be repaired by exactly the same engineers in exactly the same way as if you were still paying BT's higher prices. BT quality service but at a lower cost..... That's Broadcall. You keep your current home phone number and use your existing telephone(s) for making calls (unlike some other suppliers who only offer cheap calls using a low quality internet telephony service), while benefitting from savings of almost 50% on the calls you make most often - that's daytime calls to local and national destinations. You'll also receive unlimited Free Weekend calls to anywhere in the UK (compared with a fixed price of 5.5p per call on BT). Take Broadcall and one other service and receive unlimited Free Evening and Weekend calls to anywhere in the UK.Take Broadcall and two other services and and receive unlimited free Calls to any UK landline number All day, Every day.

The Society is led by a Board of Directors who bring many attributes to the Society some having experience of running businesses, working in the arts, working with people etc., but each and every one also giving of their time as a volunteer working in the day to day operations of the theatre.
Every person gives freely of his/her time to one aspect or another of the everyday life of the Riverhead. Even four paid (part time) staff also volunteer their free time. Our volunteers number well over 100 from all walks of life and all abilities each bringing dedication and enthusiasm seldom found in professional theatres. We will try and offer all who wish to give of their time the opportunity to join the team. We exclude no-one and will find somewhere within the theatre for them to use their talents and work alongside others to their best advantage. (We are mindful of all health and safety concerns and some activities associated with theatre life may not suit certain disabilities). We will, however, try to offer an alternative area to work should any disability restrict a person from volunteering this/her services in any area.

Location, Location, Location

Phil Spencer
I think that what is happening is that the press in general talks about 'the property market'. But there isn't just one property market - there are lots of property markets in different regions and in different towns. It's important to accept that there are different ones around the country, and that what is happening in yours may not be happening in someone else's in another part of the country. I've just read a feature in a newspaper that deals with new builds in the Midlands, and of course I feel sorry for people who have lost money in this particular story, but the sad fact is that they simply bought the wrong thing - there was a massive over-supply of the same types of property in that area.
The property columns seem to have become obituary columns but markets never stand still and there are opportunities in both upturns and downturns. Recent Halifax figures show house prices fell by an average of 2.5 per cent last month, the biggest fall in a single month since 1992. However, they went on to conclude that average prices were still 1.1 per cent higher than they were 12 months ago.
Many people are thinking about downsizing. Credit: Harry Penton
It is negative equity which forces home owners to sell and it is only when the numbers of forced sellers reach significant levels that a market actually crashes. Using data from 80 per cent of lenders, Experian estimate 8,000 people are already in difficulty and more than 23,000 would be in negative equity if prices fell by 10 per cent. A 20 per cent fall would mean 78,394. Given that there are around 14.5 million owner-occupiers in the UK - I do not believe these numbers would bring about the type of market collapse being hyped up in the press. Yes - there will be pain felt in certain sectors, but it is by a relatively small number of people.
Conditions have been shifting on a fortnightly basis and the market is incredibly polarised; different postcodes and price brackets behave quite independently from one another. It is therefore impossible for mainstream press articles to offer more than an idea of general trend. Without a clear understanding of how each of the various statistics are collated, the relevance to your circumstances, and from which stage in the transaction process they refer to, the information is of limited use.
It always surprises me and my colleagues at Garringtonwhen the market softens that so many people trading upwards fail to see a potential drop in price as a relative one, which can be more than recouped by purchasing under similar conditions. But that is precisely what 'sentiment' is all about and the reason why it affects activity to such a great extent.
There are risks for all sectors and just as everyone is repricing risk in the financial markets - so they will try to do so in the property markets. As we head into the summer, only time will tell whether the slowdown becomes more entrenched.

Energy companies accused of overcharging
Gas and electricity suppliers make even more billing mistakes than the Revenue and tax departments, according to new research.
A survey by uSwitch.com, the comparison website, indicates that nine million households have had to deal with inaccurate bills from energy suppliers in the past two years.
Further, the research indicates that 40 per cent of energy customers are owed money because of overcharging and 26 per cent are in the red to their supplier, making it difficult for them to switch to a better tariff.
Last month, Times Money readers identified £50m of possible overcharging by nPower.

Watchdog: UK Energy Bills 'Catastrophic'

British consumers are "getting it in the neck" from gas and electricity firms because of a lack of effective competition, a watchdog has told a powerful committee of MPs.

Energywatch chief executive Allan Asher told a regulatory reform hearing that energy is under the control of a "powerful oligopoly" where firms "do not feel the need to innovate or compete".
Since the start of 2004 average energy bills in British households have climbed from £580 to more than £1000, a rise of almost 81%.
The price comparison service uSwitch has warned that if wholesale energy prices keep rising consumers could be paying more than £1300 by the start of 2009.
Last week British Gas, owned by Centrica, warned that prices would go up again, blaming the cost of gas on the wholesale market.
Energywatch, which is due to be abolished in September, has warned the government that there were "too many no-go areas" when it came to information disclosure, and that exposure to the European energy markets punished consumers.
Mr Asher said: "Higher energy prices will be catastrophic for the 4.5million fuel poor and those households on the brink of fuel poverty."

The Utility Warehouse Discount Club offers savings on a wide range of utility services.
We can save you money on your phone, mobile, electricity, gas and internet bills.

Ofgem inquiry into alleged mis-selling

Ofgem, the energy regulator, began a formal investigation yesterday into alleged mis-selling of energy contracts by npower, one of Britain's top six power suppliers.
The inquiry comes after claims that sales representatives of npower - which has 6.8million customers and is owned by RWE, the German utility group - had lied to customers and used illegal practices to sell contracts.
The alleged tactics included exploiting customers with a poor command of English, making people sign forms without revealing that they were contracts and lying about charges.
If found guilty, Ofgem can impose a maximum fine of 10 per cent of RWE's global turnover, which was €42 billion (£33billion) in 2005.

Two weeks ago, Ofgem began an inquiry into alleged market abuse by ScottishPower and Scottish & Southern Energy. In February, it began a competition review and also fined National Grid £42million.

Npower said that it planned to co-operate fully with the Ofgem investigation and that it was “very concerned” about the claims. It said that several staff had been suspended pending disciplinary hearings.

News of the inquiry will infuriate npower's customers, who in January became the first to be hit by the latest round of fuel price rises when the company introduced bill increases of up to 17 per cent.

Corporate Britain isn't the enemy, but it is the opposition. A company's job is to make money, nothing wrong with that. A consumer's job is to keep as much of their cash for themselves as possible. The problem is that companies spend billions on marketing, advertising and teaching their staff to sell: yet consumers get no buyers' training.
This site aims to redress the balance, both with highly researched journalistic articles and forums that bring millions together to gradually build collective resources. MoneySaving is about finding best deals, legal loopholes and how to save money on everything and anything; on average following these will gain you the equivalent of a 25% payrise.

Low Energy prices

It's easy to switch.
You get the same gas and electricity through the same pipes and meters.
No interruption to your supply.
Unique "Triple value" guarantee
No minimum term contract

Have you noticed how when there is a change in the cost of energy, the big suppliers seem to be incredibly quick to put their prices up but terribly slow to pass on any reductions?
You moved to a different supplier because their prices are cheaper, but then your original supplier moves their prices.
You would have been better off staying where you were in the first place!

Sound familiar?

Are you fed up with changing suppliers every few months? Looking for guaranteed long-term value? you should join over 200,000 other households throughout the UK and benefit from the huge savings we provide.

And to keep our prices competitive, we compare them every month against British Gas, your Regional Electricity Supplier and the average of the cheapest direct debit tariff available from each of the “Big 6” suppliers, on a like-for-like basis. If necessary, we will adjust them regularly in line with our unique “Triple Value” guarantee.
If you pay by budget plan, we won’t make you wait before you see the benefit of any reductions in your monthly payments!
So once you’ve transferred your energy to the Utility Warehouse you can relax.Be confident in the knowledge you will always be receiving a really great deal! Our rates for Domestic Electricity Supply
View our tarrifs @ www.telecomplus.org.uk/markcox
or try comparing our direct debit price for your region to the amount charged
on your last electricity bill. You’ll be amazed how much cheaper our rates are!

save you.
